Trailer & Synopsis
Based upon the Old Norse proverb “Man is man’s delight”, You, the Living is a darkly comic exploration of the “grandeur of existence” through the finely crafted tableaux of director Roy Andersson. In a Swedish city; a woman laments her misfortunes in the park; a carpenter dreams of being executed for failing a tablecloth trick; a young woman meets her musical idol; a man’s hair is ruined by an angry barber; a sousaphone player earns money from funerals; a squadron of bombers menace the city, blaring Dixieland music. Throughout these vignettes mankind's joys, sorrows, dreams and longing for validation and love are expressed with painful and hilarious clarity.
