Weighed down by child marriage, marital abuse, and the quiet violence of a patriarchal order that treats them as property, Rani, Lajjo, Bijli, and Janaki carve out stolen moments of laughter, tenderness, and rebellion — confiding in one another about the lives they were never allowed to choose.
