Set in 2001 Afghanistan, 11-year-old Parvana and her family live under the Taliban rule. One day, her father is wrongfully arrested. Following this, Parvana cuts her hair and dresses like a boy in order to provide for her family. She also embarks on a quest to find and free her father.
