Synopsis

Competing in the FAI Cup for the first time should have been St Peter’s Celtic’s finest hour, but when blundering assistant manager Fran Costello (Daragh Humphries) learns that some of his players have taken bribes to fix the match, he turns detective in the hope of catching the rats.

Fran’s detective work is hampered by the dodgy St. Peter’s manager Jim (Ardal O’Hanlon – Father Ted, Death in Paradise) and the outrageous Dympna Green (Deirdre O’Kane – Moone Boy, Intermission). With a cast that features the cream of Irish comic actors and a hilarious cameo from Eddie Marsan (The Gentlemen, Back to Black), everyone is a suspect in this Dublin whodunnit.

Working with the police, Fran finds himself in a unique position to infiltrate the criminal underworld that orchestrates matchfixing. At the same time, Fran’s life is further complicated by a slow-burning flirtation with Jackie Charlton (Amy Huberman – Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope) one of his player’s mothers. For someone who has used football to shy away from life, Fran is being catapulted headfirst into all it has to offer.
