The girls night out to end them all. Four friends roar out of the standard share house into the pool rooms, drag shows and bars of the city before crash landing in Bondi. It’s the night before Karli goes to New York and the lives of this tight knit group will change tonight - forever.
Going Down is a dark, hilarious odyssey through pulsating Sydney in the 1980s as four young women spend their last night together. Karli is going to New York the next morning and their youth is ending in a girls night out they’ll never forget. The film stars Tracy Mann, Vera Plevnik, David Argue and Esben Storm.
Financed with no Government support, Going Down had a tough time coming to the screen but when it got there a queue a hundred metres long stretched down George St. on opening night in Sydney. The film ran for fourteen weeks to overwhelmingly great reviews. It was then invited to the Sundance Film festival and went on to commercial and critical success overseas where audiences were intrigued that Australia had big, hip cities and not just kangaroos and sunburnt country.
