"Das Boot" is the voyage of the German submarine U-96 and her crew as they set out on a hazardous patrol, immersing us into the excitement of battle and the tedium of the fruitless hunt.
Adapted from Lothar-Günther Buchheim’s novel and widely considered to be one of the greatest depictions of the realities of war, it was nominated for six academy awards upon release.
Of the four versions circulating since release (Theatrical, Director's Cut, US Cut), this complete uncut TV Miniseries version is the intended way to experience Wolfgang Petersen's seminal descent into hell, never intended to be seen as an all-out action flick, but rather a claustrophobic descent into torturous warfare.
