Luck, Lies and Loaded Bets: I’m Game Brings Dulquer Salmaan’s New Action Thriller to Australian Cinemas

Dulquer Salmaan is set to return to Malayalam cinema with I’m Game, a high-octane action thriller that is preparing to reach Australian cinemas following a change to its release plans.
Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, the filmmaker behind RDX, I’m Game centres on a fearless gambler whose unwavering faith in luck pulls him into a dangerous chain of events. What begins with a single gamble soon spirals into a much bigger battle involving crime, betrayal and a ruthless opponent, forcing him to confront consequences that he could never have anticipated.
Salmaan leads the film alongside Kayadu Lohar, Antony Varghese, Vinay Forrt, Mysskin, Parth Tiwari and Samyuktha Viswanathan. The film is produced by Salmaan under his Wayfarer Films banner and marks his return to Malayalam cinema in a leading role after King of Kotha.
The film is being positioned as a pan-Indian release, with versions planned in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. That wider release strategy is also being reflected in its international rollout, giving Australian audiences an opportunity to experience one of Salmaan's major upcoming projects on the big screen.
With a reported runtime of around 190 minutes, I’m Game promises a substantial theatrical experience built around action, suspense and unexpected twists. The official synopsis describes its protagonist as a gambler who trusts luck more than life, only to find his world turned upside down when his decisions set off a series of increasingly dangerous events.
The film has also attracted attention because of its scale and Salmaan's return to Malayalam cinema. Ahead of its release, the actor surprised audiences in Melbourne by performing the song “Loser” from I’m Game at Federation Square during Indian Film Festival of Melbourne celebrations, giving Australian fans an early taste of the film's promotional campaign.
Originally scheduled for 20 August 2026, the film has since been postponed to 3 September 2026 as the makers opted for a wider theatrical release strategy. The new date is expected to give the film a broader international rollout across its five language versions.
For Australian audiences, I’m Game is therefore shaping up as a major upcoming Indian cinema release, particularly for fans of Malayalam action films and Dulquer Salmaan. With its combination of gambling, crime, betrayal and high-stakes action, the film looks ready to turn one man's faith in luck into a dangerous game where there may be no second chance.
